For my money, the loveliest flag the world has ever had was this adorable pole-decoration that served as the flag for the impressively short-lived Republic of Formosa [which is also known as Taiwan, which is also known as Chinese Taipei, which is also known as the Republic of China… it has one of the more profound identity crises of our time].
Founded in May 1895, disbanded by October. It barely got a chance to feel the cool Asiatic sea-breeze! So here I hang it on this blog, so that there shall forever be a corner of cyberspace that knows its gorgeousity.
